Our client is a Europe-based, globally active specialist in fluid and rotating system solutions for demanding environments. With strong engineering expertise and international service structures, the company supports capital goods markets, particularly in the energy and industrial sectors.
Our client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (m/f/d) to drive the development of tailored mechanical systems for international projects. In this position, you will take technical ownership of complex mechanical design packages and support the entire lifecycle of customized industrial solutions, from concept to commissioning.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
Translate customer requirements and technical specifications into innovative and feasible mechanical design solutions within defined cost and time constraints
Prepare technical proposals, layouts and system simulations using advanced 3 D CAD tools (ideally Siemens NX)
Design complex mechanical assemblies, piping structures and auxiliary components in both 2 D and 3 D ensuring manufacturability and compliance
Create detailed technical documentation including construction drawings, assembly instructions and process diagrams for internal and external stakeholders
Conduct strength and structural assessments using FEM/FEA tools ensuring mechanical integrity under operating conditions
Contribute to cross-functional technical alignment between design, project management, procurement, production and quality departments
Support technical input during customer tenders, engineering reviews and design validation workshops
Review and validate supplier documentation and technical interfaces particularly in projects involving hydraulic, electrical or control systems
Ensure adherence to international codes and standards (e.g. ASME, EN, PED, ISO)
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical drafters within the team
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize design workflows, modularization and product standardization
Support quality documentation and customer communication during critical design stages and product handovers
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a comparable technical field
Several years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design and system engineering in industrial or energy‑related sectors
Proven ability to lead design packages from concept to delivery including technical clarification, risk assessment and stakeholder coordination
Proficiency in 3 D CAD software (ideally Siemens NX) and 2 D CAD (preferably Co Create ME10 or similar tools)
Familiarity with structural and stress analysis tools (e.g. FEM/FEA)
Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering standards (e.g. ASME Section VIII, ISO norms, EN 13445, PED)
Experience working with cross‑disciplinary teams (hydraulics, electrical engineering or control systems)
Strong communication skills in English including the ability to present technical content clearly to stakeholders and clients
Structured, proactive and detail‑oriented working style with the ability to manage competing priorities across international projects
