This full-time Professional Research Assistant position is
a faculty research position, and the primary duties will be to perform molecular and cell biology and genetics experiments designed to
elucidate the molecular mechanisms of chaperone-assisted folding of proteins of the septin family. Examples of work performed include:
molecular biology experiments including sub-cloning; protein purification; yeast genetics and cell biology experiments, including live-cell
fluorescence microscopy; assistance in basic operation of the lab, including preparation of media and solutions, washing of glassware,
organization of lab supplies, and maintenance of facilities and equipment; and presentation of results in a group setting.

position will receive t raining in advanced experimental techniques including fluorescence microscopy and protein purification. Guidance in
terms of generating experimental protocols and overall research directions. Feedback on quality of research and overall performance. The
position will also provide partial training and supervision of other lab members including PhD students and possibly student workers.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

BS or BA in biology/molecular
biology/biochemistry/genetics/microbiology or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

prior research experience in molecular biology and genetics.


Preferred applicants
will have prior experience in molecular biology, microbial genetics and cell biology, and protein biochemistry. In addition, applicants
should have excellent record-keeping and communication skills and the ability to work well in a group setting.
