Position Summary

The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona invites applications
and nominations for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an anticipated start date of August 2018.
Specific areas of interest include (1) Circular Economy, (2) Life Cycle Modeling and Assessment, (3) Multi-paradigm Simulation Methodology,
(4) Techno-Economic Analysis, and (5) Integrated Infrastructure Systems. Candidates for the Associate Professor rank must have a
distinguished record of published research, demonstrate significant impact on the profession, and success at securing funding to support a
research program.

The Department was founded in 1960 as the first degree-granting department of Systems Engineering in the world. The
Department now houses three integrated academic programs leading to Accredited BS degrees in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering and
Engineering Management, as well as MS degrees in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Engineering Management, and a PhD degree
in Systems and Industrial Engineering. Additionally, the Department participates in the recently launched interdisciplinary MS degree
program in Cybersecurity, in partnership with the Eller College of Management and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The
Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering supports Inclusive Excellence, the UA's diversity and inclusiveness strategic initiative

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be
expected to establish a strong research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to mentoring students, including
those historically underrepresented in higher education. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to an environment that
nurtures collaboration among engineers and scientists across the College and University to integrate experimental research results with
modeling work to identify knowledge gaps on a system level, facilitating directed research and development of emerging technologies. The
successful candidate will also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these, and other
ways, the faculty member will help to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding
collaborations with community and business partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or
equivalent in hand by the time of hire in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Engineering Management, or a
related field. It is desired that candidates have teaching experience, including excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates
for senior ranks must have a distinguished record of published research, demonstrate significant impact on the profession, and success at
securing funding to support a research program.
