/> Description:

Under the general direction of the Biology Department Chair, Hood College's Department of Biology has a full-time, tenure-track Assistant
Professor position starting August 1, 2018. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and the liberal arts, ongoing
scholarly research, and service to the department and college. We seek a broadly-trained organismal biologist with expertise in animal
physiology. The successful candidate's teaching assignment will include, but not limited to, Human Anatomy and Physiology (lecture and lab)
and Advanced Human Anatomy and Physiology (lecture and lab), laboratory section(s) of 100-level Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses, lecture
and/or lab of a 200-level majors course in Plant and Animal Physiology, and advanced courses(s) in his/her area of expertise.

Requirements:

Teaching/Facilitation

  • Teach Human Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab and Advanced Human Anatomy and Physiology
    lecture and lab for majors.
  • Teach laboratory sections of 100-level Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses.
  • Possible opportunity
    to teach 200-level majors course in Plant and Animal Physiology.
  • Possible opportunity to teach upper-level undergraduate elective
    lecture and/or lab as well as graduate courses in area of expertise.
  • Evening or weekend hours could be required to support programs
    or special events.
Scholarship
  • Conduct field-specific research to enhance general body of knowledge
    and provide publication opportunities, or avidly pursue other forms of professional development.
  • Conduct research with students, as
    appropriate.
  • Present research findings and other academic papers at national or professional conferences.
  • Participate in
    the communications community.
Service
  • Support and participate in college committees and/or professional
    organizations to develop professional partnerships and meet the academic needs of the institution.
  • Support the College initiatives
    to recruit and retain talented students.
  • Participate as an active member of the Hood College community.

Education and/or Experience

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate biological discipline and teaching experience is required. Post doctoral experience
preferred.
