Description of Work Unit

Remodel and Construction Services (RCS) within Facilities Management
provides complete services to support a variety of major and minor renovation and remodel projects for Colorado State University in order to
fulfill the mission of the University Community.

Position Summary

The Framer/Roofer/Carpenter Apprentice exists
primarily to assist with carpentry labor including steel stud framing, sheetrock hanging, steel stud framing, and all other carpentry
associated duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of progressively responsible construction experience.


Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a current valid driver's license.

    training and guidance in a variety of trades areas with the ability to immediately apply new concepts/methods to ongoing skilled trade
    work.
  • Demonstrated experience in two or more skilled trade areas.

    demands, priorities, and routines/schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and establish relationships
    through strong, interpersonal skills.

Duty/Responsibility

Assist Journey level staff with:

  • Hanging of drywall commercial and
    institutional remodel projects.
  • Use of specialized finishing tools such as banjo and bazooka for finishing drywall jobs.

  • Repair and replace plaster.
  • Texture matching and spraying.
  • Containment for demo and sanding.

Percentage Of Time: 30%

Assist Journey level staff with:

  • Layout and framing of metal stud walls,
    soffits and more in commercial and institutional projects.
  • Insulation of new and existing walls.
  • Installation of metal
    door jams.
  • Roofing projects.

Assist Journey level staff with:

  • Surface preparation, masking/taping of
    surfaces
  • Cutting and rolling surface assistant.
  • Trim painting.
  • Cleaning and maintaining painting equipment.

  • Mixing paint.

  • Provide entry-level skills for installing grid ceiling and panels.

    countertops, and shelving.
  • Installation of doors and hardware.
