Description

The University of Bristol is investing £1M to enhance support for student wellbeing through the introduction of a new Student Wellbeing Service embedded across our academic schools. Four teams of Student Wellbeing Advisers will proactively support student wellbeing through enhancing support for transition, fostering inclusive community building, developing wellbeing self-management skills, providing advice and support, and ensuring students with additional support needs are engaging with relevant support.

The Deputy Head of Student Wellbeing will work with the Head of Student Wellbeing on the design and delivery of this new service, as well as being directly responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of two Student Wellbeing Teams. You will work in close partnership with colleagues and students across the academic schools to develop annual Wellbeing Partnership Agreements that will structure the work and priorities of the teams.

Applicants for this role will have a sound understanding and experience of supporting student wellbeing, including proactive developmental approaches and the supervision of complex casework. You will also have successful experience of managing teams of staff to deliver high quality services. Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and an ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of roles, cultures and backgrounds are essential.

The “Proposals to develop support for students’ wellbeing and development in schools” document (see attachment below) gives full details of the new Service. Please read this thoroughly in preparation of your application.

If you have informal enquiries that remain unanswered, please email Richard Edwards at [email protected]. Applications should be made through bristol.ac.uk/jobs only. CVs will not be accepted, and you do not need to call in support of your application.

Please note: shortlisting will be completed based on candidates’ ability to demonstrate the skills, knowledge & qualifications in the Person Specification only. This is a fixed term maternity cover position.

Interviews anticipated: 27th February 2018

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities and we would be particularly interested to receive applications from men and/or candidates from black and other minority ethnic groups, as these are currently under-represented across Student Services.
