Reporting to the Maintenance Execution Upgrading Manager, you will be accountable for leading all maintenance activities to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost effective planned maintenance. This includes the identification, preparation, and execution of all planned maintenance work related activities for the designated work centre.

You will use your expertise to:
  • Ensure work is planned and executed in a cost effective and efficient fashion; planned work is maximized and unplanned work is minimized
  • Interact with operations and planning to optimize production by establishing work priorities and providing feedback on equipment performance, planning effectiveness, and concerns
  • Ensure plant outage durations are minimized, by maximizing the application of resources without compromising worker safety or longer-term plant reliability
  • Manage overtime within established goals
  • Assist the execution team to control costs by ensuring risk items are identified and appropriate action plans defined, opportunities for improvement developed, and provide the leadership and guidance in achieving these
  • Supervise multiple contractors and bargaining unit maintenance resources in a manner that ensures that safety and work performance standards are maintained, accurate control exists, costs and resources are managed, and Suncor’s business objectives are met
  • Provide direction and support to the field coordinator
  • Drive a continuous improvement mindset in all aspects of your work
  • Support the development of new work procedures, guidelines and execution practices

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
  • Five years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment with the ability to deliver on aggressive timelines
  • A valid mechanical Alberta Journeyperson Certificate, Engineering Degree, or Technical Diploma
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our

Preference for:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping isometrics, electrical and mechanical drawings and single line drawings
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to think strategically
  • Project management and turnaround experience
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in
, Alberta * The shift schedule is a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation; 12-hour shifts
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
