The Role
Are you interested in starting a career in care or taking on a new challenge? If so Metropolitan Thames Valley have an opportunity for a care and support worker to join the team. This role is an expansion to the current team as we have a new resident joining the service.

Working 30 hours a week you will need to be able to work on a flexible rota including weekends and at least 1 sleep in a week. You will receive a generous additional payment for each sleep in which pays £71 / sleep-in

You will be working in a service with 6 customers whom all have physical disabilities and require personal care. Due to these care needs we can only accept applications from females. (Sch. 9 s. 1 (1) Equality Act 2010 applies)

Essential elements of this role include, but are not limited to: -

- Provide assistance with the personal care and support needs of customers as identified in their care and support plan.
- Encourage and support customers to establish and maintain positive relationships with their family and friends and engage in activities which help them to achieve their personal goals.
- Provide support and practical assistance to customers with benefits, budgeting, paying bills and accessing appropriate services.
- Provide social and emotional support to customers in line with policies & procedures and best practice.
- Promote self-advocacy and act as the customers` advocate where appropriate.
- Be aware of customers` wellbeing, safety and state of health, reporting any concerns.
- Ensure all necessary records are accurate and up to date.
- Prompt and assist with the ordering, safe storage and administration of medication as detailed in care & support plans, recording as appropriate.

About You
To be successful in the role previous experience is not essential, but we are seeking individuals that can provide a caring and supportive service to our customers with dignity. You will demonstrate you understand what good support looks like which is appropriate to the age, gender, disability, race, religion and sexuality of the customer to improve their quality of life and independence.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate: -

1) Good written English in order to maintain accurate records
2) Basic IT skills
3) A desire to care for and support vulnerable customers.

While it is not essential that you are a driver please be aware that due to the location of our service access by public transport is limited.
