Job Summary

The NP/APRN role
provides primary care and treatment to patients in a University Health Sciences clinic or hospital unit.

The Department of class="caps">OBGYN is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for our General Division. This individual will function broadly within the
specialty of OBGYN, caring for high and low risk patients in a clinical environment. Will work with medical
assistants, health care assistants and unlicensed support staff. Will manage advanced-practice OBGYN patients and
clinic including, but not limited to, well-woman care/annual exams, obstetrical and gynecologic problems, routine prenatal care and testing,
and some primary care problems. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory test diagnostic imaging and/or other tests/procedures as
indicated. Obtains updates and patient medical history; manages and treats uncomplicated diagnoses; conducts outpatient office procedures.
Works both independently and closely with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment. Orders, interprets, and evaluates
diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Performs selected invasive procedures for
therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence. Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other
forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy. Complies with medical records policies
regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
Participates in quality improvement activities. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes
health maintenance. Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures. Manage follow up
and patient care, Triage calls, review lab data, review and prepare client EMR for each clinic day, assist in
patient care, bill and code for services, via in-person, phone calls, messaging or other methods as appropriate through telephone, Epic,
Outlook, pager or other means of communication. Works closely with support staff in clinic, provide leadership and assistance to medical
students, and residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally
certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Certification in ACLS/ class="caps">BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging
criteria. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area; and demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and
communication skills are required.

Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred.

Licensure is obtained by completing a
Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a
National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination. UHPPM 1-56
requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

Experience working in women's health specialty in clinical setting. Current State of Utah nursing license,
current BLS, 2+ years in a clinical environment. Academic experience, supervision abilities and Spanish speaking
capabilities welcomed. Additional services may be supported based on specific provider expertise. This position will require practicing at
multiple University clinics and must have exceptional leadership, communication and administrative skills, and the ability to work
independently. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize, be efficient, organized, and thorough and have exceptional time management
skills. As a School of Medicine staff member, medical students and resident education will be a critical component of this position.
