Senior Monitoring & Surveillance Officer (Market Abuse)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team of monitoring specialists in Dubai. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high standard of professional conduct, a collaborative approach to teamwork, and a proactive attitude toward identifying and resolving issues efficiently. Reporting to the Head of Monitoring, this role plays a crucial part in implementing the organization’s AML and market abuse monitoring policies and procedures.
The Senior Monitoring Analyst will work closely with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), who serves as the primary contact for all Anti-Money Laundering (AML) matters with the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily/periodic reviews of alerts generated by AML and market abuse monitoring systems.
Investigate alerts and prepare escalation reports when necessary.
Leverage trading or broking experience to enhance monitoring parameters and identify emerging patterns or strategies.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain registers, including those for escalated alerts and offboarded clients.
Management Information:
Assist the Head of Monitoring in preparing reports and management information for the MLRO.
Prepare requested management information for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
At least 3 years in surveillance or monitoring roles within a regulated financial services environment.
Prior front-office experience as a trader or broker in financial markets (e.g., equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives).
Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as NASDAQ SMARTS or Eventus.
Strong understanding of market abuse scenarios and AML red flags.
Skills and Competencies:
Fluency in English (fluency in French is a plus but not required).
Familiarity with data analytics tools or querying languages (e.g., SQL) is an advantage.
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail in investigative tasks.
Proven ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
