Your Opportunity:

This position is based in the beautiful Crowsnest Pass. The Occupational Therapist I is responsible for occupational therapy in client's homes and supportive living facilities. As an Occupational Therapist, you will love the variety of clinical experiences you will see every day in client's homes and supportive living facilities. As an Occupational Therapist I in this position, you will collaborate, cooperate and develop effective partnerships with other providers with a focus on prevention, protection, treatment and promotion for all ages across the continuum of services. As our Occupational Therapist I, you will be working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, responsibilities include: assessment for adaptive equipment, community rehabilitation, collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, supervision of a therapy assistant, and client centered occupation assessment and intervention. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and will be expected to work collaboratively with the therapist who supports acute care and long term care at the Crowsnset Pass Health Center. The Town of Blairmore is one of the largest communities in Crowsnest Pass, and acts as a hub for the surrounding communities of Bellevue, Frank and Coleman. Blairmore is located 135 kilometres southwest of Lethbridge and 225.5 kilometres southwest of Calgary. Residents of Crowsnest Pass enjoy the best of mountain living, with all essential modern amenities. Public schools from Kindergarten to Grade 3, as well as Grade seven to 12 are in Coleman, with Grade four to six students attending classes in Blairmore. The municipality is connected by a public transit system, as well as a multi-use, non-motorized trail network that runs through Crowsnest Pass. Description:

As an Occupational Therapist I, you will be working both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, responsible for enabling occupation through activities of assessment, treatment planning, intervention, consultation, education and follow-up, based on the patient's individualized goals, with outcomes focused on enabling the patient (client, resident) to perform meaningful daily occupations. You will provide clinical direction to therapy assistants, support personnel and students. You will review clinical referrals, accept, screen and assess client needs from an occupational therapy perspective in collaboration with other health disciplines. You will work in partnership with community agencies and providers as appropriate, to facilitate referrals and services to support care transitions in hospital and community settings. You will establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues, medical staff, and healthcare practitioners concerning documentation, treatment plans, progress and discharge. You will participate in client, family and caregiver education in collaboration with other disciplines, producing and maintaining clinical data, information, documentation and verbal reports to support the delivery of occupational therapy services, including charting.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Preferred Qualifications:

AADL Authorizer. Experience in community care.
