Assistant/Associate Vice President for Research Services 
Research Resources Facilities
University Attending Veterinarian

The University of Louisville is seeking a Director of the
Research Resources Facilities and University Attending Veterinarian. This person will also serve as Assistant/Associate Vice President for
Research Services (AVPRS). The Research Resources Facilities are AAALAC accredited. This position is a faculty appointment in the School of
Medicine. Duties include: oversight of the day-to-day activities of the University of Louisville (UofL) animal facilities and leading the
Research Resources Facilities professional and technical staff in their duties related to clinical care, disease control, and surgery in
conventional, barrier, and containment environments; developing or enhancing Research Resources Facilities support for animal-based research
proposed by the UofL faculty and staff, the University’s hospital partners, and private enterprise groups; serving as an ex officio
member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC); and providing the leadership and direction necessary to maintain full
AAALAC accreditation for the animal care and use program at UofL which now has the distinction of being the longest-running accredited
institution in the world.

The University of Louisville (UofL) is one of the oldest urban institutions of higher learning in the U.S.
Its principal animal research activities are concentrated at the medical campus located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, with satellite
animal facilities located on the Belknap and Shelby campuses, also in Louisville. Louisville, located on the Ohio River, is a thriving urban
and cultural center, with a metropolitan population of approximately 1.3 million. The city is known for its performing arts, beautiful
neighborhoods, and fine dining. In addition to the UofL Health Sciences Center, the medical campus includes the University of Louisville
Hospital, Norton Hospital, Jewish Hospital, and Norton Children’s Hospital.

The successful candidate must possess a DVM or VMD
degree from an AVMA-accredited institution, be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S., and be active in professional
organizations. Board eligibility or certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) is desirable. In addition to
critical and strategic thinking abilities, the selected candidate will demonstrate actions that reflect a high degree of integrity and
ethics; possess skills required to build effective working relationships with faculty and staff; show a strong desire to continuously learn;
have the ability to capitalize on opportunities to contribute, focus on the customer, and integrate ideas in collaboration with others; and
demonstrate exceptional management, interpersonal and communication skills, including positive feedback, recognition of performance, and
