Arabic Language Teacher Education - Assistant/Associate Professor

Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) is a leading national center for teacher education and educational research located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. ECAE seeks to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor in Arabic Language Teacher Education. This is an exciting opportunity for a research-active teacher educator to lead the development of Arabic Language teacher education for aspiring and in-service teachers of Arabic Language in Early Years, Primary OR Secondary school contexts.
ECAE would like to recruit a new member of faculty who will:
Design and deliver pre-service and in-service Arabic language teacher education programs and assessments for Early Years, Primary OR Secondary school settings.
Contribute to the delivery of other Graduate courses and programs at ECAE dependent on knowledge and skills.
Supervise students in their assignments, including research-based and school placement projects.
Make regular partnership school visits to students during their professional practice placements and liaise with school-based mentors in the supervision of students at school.
Actively contribute to the research profile of ECAE by undertaking educational research, dissemination, and impact activity related to Arabic teacher education and literacy.
Contribute to other activities and committee service at ECAE as appropriate.
Research Experience:
You will be expected to contribute to the research profile of ECAE. Early career researchers will receive mentor support to further develop their research knowledge and skills.
You will be committed to educational research as a way of promoting research-informed developments in pedagogy, assessment, and teacher education. You will express this commitment in your own research-informed teaching and research activity.
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Be bilingual in Arabic and English.
Possess a Ph D in a relevant subject, or be close to completion in your doctoral studies.
Possess a Masters degree in Arabic Language or Applied Linguistics with a practical teaching component. Other Masters degrees will be considered if you can demonstrate you have sustained teaching experience in Arabic Language education, especially in a higher education context.
Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching, assessing, and developing courses and materials in Arabic Language teacher education within a higher education context.
Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching Arabic language in schools.
Have experience providing learning support for graduate students in relation to critical thinking and study skills.
Strong organizational skills in managing multiple projects.
Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
Experience combining online and face-to-face teaching in a blended mode of delivery.
