Department and Position Background
Our teams provide human resource advice, guidance, strategies, and services to the leadership,
management, and staff at Cornell University.

On our team, you will report to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and provide administrative support, budget/financial
support, and project management to the AVP and the Sr. Director for Benefit Services and Administration.

What will you do?

As our administrative
support, you have several responsibilities. Demonstrating initiative, good judgement, and high-level professionalism and confidentiality,
you provide comprehensive, pro-active administrative support to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and the Senior Director for
Benefit Services and Administration. You will use your uncommon service skills to create a positive, professional, collaborative setting.
You will handle complex meeting schedules, ensuring that activities and obligations occur smoothly and that the AVP and Sr. Director are
fully prepared for their daily activities. You will also manage occasional travel arrangements and travel reimbursements.

You will
draft correspondence and presentations, and collaborate with the university financial services center regarding financial transactions and
budget support.

You will also provide project management support: e.g., conducting topical research, summarizing and analyzing
information, providing recommendations, and offering advanced assistance with the development and refinement of reports.

What
experience will you need?

We are looking for an Associate's Degree and 6 years of experience-or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.

  • Strong communication: you are able to effectively interact with staff, university partners, and
    external vendors, in writing and verbally. We also need strong interpersonal and organizational skills. You can demonstrate clear
    communication that thoughtfully projects a helpful, positive impression. You also appropriately handle highly sensitive and confidential
    information.
  • Initiative and creative problem solving: You have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and accomplish
    tasks effectively in a dynamic environment. You creatively approach and solve problems, using sounds judgement and reasoning.

  • Strong service orientation: We seek your ability to anticipate and diplomatically resolve issues by using your remarkable customer
    service skills.
  • Affinity for technology and data: Strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail. Shown talent
    in MS Office, MS Outlook, and utilization of web technologies: e.g., fluent with word processing, database management, communications,
    scheduling, and spreadsheet capabilities.
